Cuban Foreign Minister leads delegation at BRICS Ministers meeting in Brazil
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, leads the Cuban delegation at the BRICS Group Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between April 28 and 29, 2025. Under the slogan “The Role of the Global South in Strengthening Multilateralism,” the event brings together foreign ministers from the BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—as well as associated nations like Cuba.
As an associated country, Cuba will actively participate in discussions aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation, with a special focus on the role of developing nations in global governance. In addition to the official program, Rodríguez Parrilla is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts and participate in activities organized by the mayor of Rio de Janeiro.
The delegation includes key figures from Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX), such as Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernández, General Director of Bilateral Affairs; Eugenio Martínez Enríquez, General Director for Latin America and the Caribbean; and Adolfo Curbelo Castellanos, Ambassador of Cuba to Brazil.
This participation underscores Cuba’s ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue among Global South nations and seeks to promote policies addressing global challenges while advocating for more equitable international relations. The BRICS platform offers an opportunity for Cuba to reaffirm its stance on multilateralism and contribute to shaping a more inclusive world order.
