Transport Minister evaluates sector status in Guantánamo
Transport Minister Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila began a new tour of all provinces this Wednesday in Guantánamo to verify compliance with agreements from a similar itinerary conducted earlier this year.

In the provincial capital, Rodríguez Dávila highlighted the commissioning of a railbus, adapted from a Diana bus, which now facilitates passenger transport in suburban communities.
Accompanied by Yoel Pérez García, the provincial Communist Party leader, and local innovator Osmel Cosme, the Transport Minister learned that the railbus modifications were carried out at the Vanguardia Proletaria workshop, responsible for railway equipment maintenance in the province.
The modifications, which took months of intensive work, primarily involved adapting the differential and trucks with Soviet-era grease systems for safer operation, as reported by CMKS Radio.
During a visit to Guantánamo’s central railway station, Rodríguez Dávila inquired about the technical readiness of locomotives, railcars, and service quality for workers and passengers.
He urged prompt resolution of issues faced by travel agencies due to power outages disrupting ticket sales via reservations and waiting lists.
The Minister also met with directors and specialists to assess compliance with previous agreements, identify sector improvements, and implement necessary actions ahead of an upcoming National Assembly inspection.
He emphasized strengthening measures to improve technical availability of national and school buses, organizing leased bus operations, and repairing key roads like La Farola Viaduct and Baracoa-Moa Highway.
As noted on his Facebook profile, this tour phase includes Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Holguín, Las Tunas, Camagüey and Ciego de Ávila.
“We will engage with the public, state and private transporters, National Assembly deputies and local authorities,” Rodríguez Dávila stated.
