The Electrical Union (UNE) forecasts an impact of 1,160 MW for the nighttime period
The Electrical Union (UNE) forecasts an impact of 1,160 MW during the nighttime peak. Yesterday, service was affected for 24 hours and remained disrupted throughout the early hours of today, with the highest impact (1,196 MW) at 8:10 PM, though it did not coincide with the peak demand time.
The 13 new solar parks generated 1,133 MWh, peaking at 208 MW at midday.
As of 7:00 AM today, the National Electric System (SEN) had 2,050 MW available against a demand of 2,750 MW, leaving 700 MW unmet. The deficit is expected to rise to 800 MW by midday.
Notable incidents include breakdowns at the Felton and Renté power plants, maintenance at Mariel, Santa Cruz, Cienfuegos, and Renté, and 347 MW offline due to thermal limits. Fuel shortages affect 47 distributed generation plants (411 MW), plus an additional 145 MW lost due to oil shortages—totaling 556 MW.
For the nighttime peak, the activation of Renté Unit 6 (60 MW) may slightly alleviate the situation. However, a deficit of 1,090 MW is anticipated.
