Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel led tributes to Vladimir Ilich Lenin on his 155th birthday at the iconic Lenin Hill in Regla, Havana, celebrating revolutionary values and innovation.
Early Tuesday morning, the municipality of Regla in Havana hosted a commemorative event honoring Vladimir Ilich Lenin, the leader of the global proletariat. Held at the symbolic Lenin Hill, the ceremony was attended by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, underscoring its national importance. During the event, ten outstanding Cubans were awarded replicas of the membership card from the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (ANIR), an honor previously bestowed upon Fidel Castro.
The ceremony also recognized exceptional collectives with the plaque “Havana Lives in My Collective, Together We Create for Cuba,” celebrating their commitment to development and innovation. Alfredo Vázquez Pérez, Secretary General of the Cuban Workers’ Central Union (CTC) in Havana, delivered the keynote speech. He emphasized the enduring relevance of Lenin’s ideas and highlighted the resilience of the Cuban people in the face of current challenges. Vázquez Pérez called for unity and collective struggle, values that will be further reinforced during the upcoming May Day march.
Artistic performances enriched the occasion, featuring poetry readings and musical acts. The renowned Cuban duo Buena Fe delivered an emotional performance, leaving a lasting impression on attendees. The event concluded with a powerful rendition of “The Internationale,” a hymn symbolizing equality and fraternity among humanity.
Lenin’s revolutionary vision, encapsulated in his assertion that “no struggle is fiercer than a revolution,” remains a guiding principle for Cuba. This tribute not only honored Lenin’s legacy but also reaffirmed the revolutionary ideals that continue to inspire Cubans today.
The commemoration of Lenin’s birth served as both a reflection on his revolutionary contributions and a celebration of Cuban resilience and innovation. Through this event, the spirit of unity and progress continues to thrive, inspiring future generations.
