Raúl, 94 Years of Revolutionary Dedication

On June 3, we celebrate the birthday of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, who has reached his 94 years, of which he has dedicated more than 70 to tireless revolutionary struggle.
Born in Birán in 1931, he was characterized from a young age by his loyalty, strategic cunning, and deep connection with the people. His journey began alongside his brother Fidel Castro, who stated in 1977: “Raúl is my brother in ideas: he earned his place with sacrifice and bravery.”
This bond defined his path: from the assault on the Moncada Barracks in 1953, exile and war in Sierra Maestra, to leading the Eastern Front.
As Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces at 28 years old —the youngest in Cuba—, Raúl prioritized education in the Revolution. In a 1959 speech, he maintained that “an uneducated rebel is like a rifle without bullets,” emphasizing that victory demands constant learning.
His management forged an army “of the humble,” rooted in anti-imperialist resistance and socialist principles.
His leadership transcended the military; he has always defended unity and advocates for “advancing without haste, but without pauses.”
As we celebrate Raúl Castro’s 94th birthday, his legacy endures in the call for resilience, education, and unwavering loyalty to the Revolution: a testament to a life defending socialist Cuba.
Congratulations!
