Beyond the Blockade: How Cuba Salud 2025 Conquers the World with Science and Cooperation.
The V International Convention Cuba Salud 2025 has once again demonstrated the undeniable value of the Cuban system and its international medical cooperation, amid the intense U.S. campaign to discredit these achievements. With a record participation of over 5,000 experts and the presence of 263 companies, including 141 foreign ones from 37 countries, the massive attendance confirms global interest in the Cuban model and its contribution to world public health. Minister José Ángel Portal Miranda emphasized that Cuban medical cooperation not only saves lives but also strengthens international solidarity, offering professional training and assistance in the most vulnerable regions of the planet. Over 24,800 Cuban collaborators work in 56 countries, providing primary care, prevention, and hope to millions, despite the intensified economic blockade and disinformation campaigns.
The Health for All 2025 Commercial Fair was a key space to consolidate strategic alliances, where over 50 contracts were signed and innovations in biotechnology, diagnostics, and natural products were presented. This event reaffirms that Cuban medical cooperation is a bridge uniting diverse nations around the universal right to health.
China and Cuba: A Strategic Ally in the Field of Health
Within the framework of the event, the Cuba-China Cooperation Forum reaffirmed the strategic alliance between both countries in medical assistance, biotechnology, professional training, and response to health emergencies. The Cuban minister recalled that this collaboration, initiated in 2006 under Fidel Castro’s leadership, has included the construction of ophthalmological hospitals in China and the exchange of supplies and knowledge during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, there are five contracts for Cuban medical services in China, including the construction of the China-Cuba Friendship International Hospital and a developing stomatology center. Additionally, 15 Chinese agencies have contracts for health tourism in Cuba, reflecting a fruitful and growing exchange.
Both countries share the vision that health is a universal right, and their collaboration extends to joint research, biotechnology, traditional medicine, digital health, and emergency preparedness.
The Cuba-China Intergovernmental Commission is a key instrument to materialize projects and strengthen this cooperation, which represents a model of South-South solidarity with global impact.
The Chinese Ambassador to Cuba, Hua Xin, highlighted that this alliance contributes to humanity’s common destiny and reaffirmed the commitment to deepen cooperation with concrete results in biomedicine, training, and pandemic response, writing a new chapter in the friendship between both nations.
This scenario of cooperation and medical solidarity between Cuba and multiple countries, with the Asian Giant as a strategic ally, is the best response to U.S. campaigns seeking to discredit a health system that has proven its effectiveness, humanity, and commitment to global well-being. The massive attendance and international interest in Cuba Salud 2025 are irrefutable proof of the value and relevance of this unique model in the world.
