Le Parquet enquête sur le vol de lait pour enfants et de bonbonnes de gaz

The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic is investigating major cases of powdered milk and gas cylinder thefts in Havana and Sancti Spíritus, with several suspects already detained.

In Habana del Este, authorities are investigating the theft of 197 sacks of powdered milk intended for children under two years old. Seven individuals face provisional imprisonment, including two employees of the distribution center, a self-employed worker who purchased most of the stolen goods at inflated prices, and four intermediaries who sold them through digital platforms. Investigators continue gathering evidence in this case.

In Sancti Spíritus, a separate investigation led to the arrest of four individuals, three of whom are in pretrial detention. Two suspects allegedly stole gas cylinders from more than 20 homes, while the other two participated in their illegal commercialization. Authorities are examining how these resources were controlled and acquired.

The Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that these crimes particularly harm citizens amid Cuba’s current economic challenges. They promised to apply proportional legal sanctions while respecting constitutional guarantees, reaffirming their commitment to protecting state interests and citizens’ rights.
